In 2003 De
Digitale Universiteit (Dutch Digital University) performed a quickscan to
determine the usability of the IMS Question and Test Interoperability (QTI)
specification as a format to store questions and tests developed for and by the
consortium. That report is still available here
In 2006 an update of the original report was created. This update used the same set of requirements and test items as in 2003, but looked at a smaller subset of, newer versions of the applications tested in 2003.: Respondus, QuestionMark Perception, N@tschool!, Blackboard, Learn eXact.
In addition to this test with QTI 1.2 items, the quickscan also explains the differences between that version of QTI and the currently available 2.1 version. Since none of the applications in use within The Digitale Universiteit (DU) and the base set to be tested currently support version 2.1, the TOIA system was added to the set of tested applications. It not only has QTI 1.2 import and export functionality but also has support for QTI 2.0 items. Only its QTI 2.0 import functionality has been tested.
The 2006 version of the report is available in English only.

Quick hack to test exporting questions out of Dokeos 1.5.5 into QTI 2.0 format. The script has been made public on request, it is poorly coded and I won't be able to support it.
|
The ZIP-file contains two XSLT-files, one to create a profile of a single QTI version 2.0 item and one to extract as much as possible metadata from a QTI item.
|
A tool has been build to convert QTI item from version 1.2 to 2.0. It is easy to use and available for free download. The setup works on systems running Microsoft Windows 98 or newer. It is a beta version of the tool, you can send remarks, question, bug report etc. to Steve Lay or Pierre Gorissen

The quickscan was carried out by Pierre

This is an unofficial translation of that report.

In October 2003, Canvas Learning responded to the
quickscan by sending in their new Flash QTI player which was able to do a lot of
the things many of the other players had problems with. Because of that, an
addendum to the quickscan has been written. The test files (including the player
and everything needed to display the questions) this time have been packaged as
a SCORM 1.2 compliant package which can be imported into a SCORM player, though
the player can be used standalone also.
The Addendum is available in English only!
